Lisette's love for baking was inspired by her mother. Her home in Barranquilla, Colombia was the gathering place for friends and family, where they were treated to freshly baked cakes and all kinds of sweet treats. As she began experimenting with different recipes, her passion for baking grew. After coming to Austin -Texas, Lisette began making tasty treats for friends, neighbors and coworkers.
Lisette was always encouraged to explore art. Hence, it was just a matter of time before her artistic background and her passion for designing cakes would lead her to a career change, leaving her job in Finance to start Austin Sweet Treats. Today, Lisette has put her talents to work, turning dreams into edible works of art, which are not only beautiful but also delicious!
Lisette has entered several cake competitions across the United States, placing silver for two years in a row at the Grand National Wedding Cake
Competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and winning Best in Showcake at the 2009 "5th Annual That Takes the Cake Sugar Art Show" in Austin, Texas. Lisette's cakes have been featured in Brides Magazine, Modern Wedding Cakes, The Texas Wedding Guide, American Cake Decorating, Austin Woman Magazine and on FOX 7 News.
